EASA Safety Charter

Safety for all involved is of paramount importance. That’s why we have signed up to the EASA Charter to promote the safety of non-commercial General Aviation flights with light aircraft. This lays guidelines for all involved. The CAA endorse websites signed up to this charter.

Know who you are flying with

At The Ginger Private Pilot we love flying, and so do our community, and to ensure everyone gets the very best, safe, secure and trusting experience, we have created a ratings system for all users. After any shared flight, pilots and passengers will be asked to rate each other on a scale of 1 to 5, and to share their own experience of the journey. In this way, passengers and pilots that are trustworthy and enjoyable to take shared cost flights with will be clearly visible to all when flights are offered.

Verification

To complete a profile on the site and become a user, everyone provides an address and phone number so that their identity can be verified. This provides a level of trust within the community, but in addition, pilots must also provide a copy of their pilot’s license and current medical certificate along with logged flight hours to ensure that our shared cost flights are undertaken by capable, trained individuals for everyone’s safety.

Legality of flight cost sharing

Flight sharing is covered by European Regulation (EU) No 379/2014 of 7th April 2014, amending Commission Regulation (EU) No 965/2012, which states that pilots are allowed to share flights as long as the aircraft does not exceed 6 seats and has a non-complex motorisation. The amount the pilot must contribute is not specified. The important thing is that the pilot must never profit.

For more information on the legality of Cost Shared Flying please visit the CAA website by clicking here.

Insurance

The aircraft’s third-party liability insurance covers passengers, their luggage and others on the ground, and is a compulsory insurance that all light aircraft must have today. In addition, pilots can take out accident insurance if they wish that would cover themselves for all aspects of the flight.

Simple, secure payments

We take care of all transactions for our members. With payment by PayPal, we offer a range of options for your convenience and security. When passengers book a flight, a payment for the full amount is authorised, and it is charged as soon as the pilot accepts the request for shared flight.

At the end of the flight, the money is transferred directly to the pilot, offering the best balance of convenience and security. In the case of a cancellation of flights, passengers are credited to book again.

Privacy

We maintain strict security on your information to maintain data safety. We never forward your information or documents to any third party with the exception of government institutions used to verify identity.
